Steamboat Police searching for SUV that hit pedestrian Friday night

Colorado State Patrol troopers assist Steamboat Springs Police Department officers in documenting a hit-and-run incident at Walton Creek and Chinook roads after an SUV hit a pedestrian Friday night, then fled the scene. Police are asking the public for help in identifying the vehicle, which may have damage to the passenger-side headlight.

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — The Steamboat Springs Police Department is searching for a black SUV that hit a pedestrian Friday night at Walton Creek and Chinook roads, then fled the scene.

Officers received a report of the hit-and-run at 9:30 p.m. Friday. According to police, the pedestrian was taken to UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center with serious bodily injuries.

Witnesses described the SUV as black in color, with damage to the passenger side headlight.

Following the incident, law enforcement closed a section of Walton Creek Road at the intersection where the crash occurred. Colorado State Patrol troopers assisted officers in documenting the scene.
