Steamboat Pilot & Today hosts community event Wednesday
The Steamboat Pilot & Today’s next Coffee and a Newspaper will be held from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8 at the newspaper’s new offices in the 910 Yampa Building downtown. Those who plan to attend will have the opportunity to meet the newspaper’s new publisher Logan Molen and tour the new offices. Free coffee and pastries will be served. Steamboat Movement Fest seeks volunteers for event
Steamboat Movement Fest is looking for volunteers to assist in all capacities as greeters, door monitors, registration, Vendor Village, Kids Move Fest, setup and teardown.
Volunteers must commit to working 14 hours throughout the festival weekend from Thursday, Aug. 9 to Monday, Aug. 13 and are required to attend a meet and greet training from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8.

LiftUp of Routt County will accept donations at free concert
LifeUp of Routt County will be accepting non-perishable food items as well as monetary donations for the food banks at the Steamboat Free Summer Concert Series events. Bring donations Saturday, Aug. 4 and Sept. 2. Concerts take place at Howlesen Hill in Steamboat Springs.
Steamboat Ski Area gondola slated to be closed Aug. 10
The Steamboat gondola will be closed for a private event on Friday, Aug. 10, including hiking and biking access, starting at 4 p.m. The Steamboat Bike Park will also close at 4 p.m. All base area activities including The Land Up, Taco Beast and Family Fun Happy Hour will continue as scheduled. To make up for the closure, the gondola and Steamboat Bike Park will be open for Twilight biking until 7 p.m. on Aug. 11.
Regional program helps pregnant women quit tobacco
Northwest Colorado Health’s Baby and Me Tobacco Free program helps expectant moms quit tobacco with prenatal smoking cessation sessions and incentives. Smoking during pregnancy increases risk of miscarriage, premature birth, birth defects and infant death. Program participants who quit smoking, remain smoke free and attend monthly smoking cessation sessions during pregnancy and for a year after their baby is born receive vouchers for free diapers.
