Steamboat Pilot & Today collects 68 Colorado Press Association awards at annual contest

— The Steamboat Pilot & Today was honored with 68 awards in the Colorado Press Association Better Newspaper Contest during a banquet Friday night at the Westin Downtown Denver Hotel. The awards ceremony was held in conjunction with the 2014 Colorado Press Association’s annual convention.

The Steamboat Pilot & Today won the General Excellence award as the best overall newspaper in its circulation class, marking the 10th time the Pilot & Today has earned top honors during the previous 12 years.

The newspaper collected a total of 26 first-place awards in editorial, advertising, website and photo and design categories. The Pilot & Today also won the Advertising Sweepstakes award for winning more individual advertising honors than any other newspaper in its circulation class as well as the Editorial Sweepstakes Award and the Photo/Design Sweepstakes Award. The newspaper tied for the Online Sweepstakes Award with the Durango Herald.

“This is well-deserved recognition for our talented journalists and advertising professionals. I am extremely proud.” Publisher Suzanne Schlicht said. “The tremendous support of the community allows us to make these achievements, and we are thankful and appreciative of that.”
