Steamboat mountain bike team earns 5 podiums in Leadville

The Steamboat Springs mountain bike team celebrates strong performances at the opening race of the season in Frisco on Aug. 27, 2022. The team put together another solid showing in Leadville with five podium finishes on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022.

The Steamboat Springs high school mountain bike team competed in the second race of the season in Leadville on Sunday, Sept. 11, and amassed five podiums between its 30 athletes.

A first-place finish for the Steamboat Springs High School team in Division II was led by Aidan and Caleb Haack, who finished in second and fourth place, respectively.

The Steamboat Mountain School team raced in Division III and placed third overall. 



The 18-mile ride for the varsity racers proved to be difficult while the 12-mile course for the other classes was dominated by Steamboat athletes.

Mary Mclarnon and Abby Olson placed second and third among junior varsity girls and Eva Minotto took home gold for the freshman girls. 



The team’s next race will be a home race in Steamboat on Saturday, Sept. 24.
