Steamboat man suspected of dealing heroin

— The All Crimes Enforcement Team drug task force has arrested a 29-year-old Steamboat Springs man, who is suspected of dealing heroin.

Cody Greatbatch has been charged with two counts of unlawful distribution of heroin, a Class 3 drug felony. He has also been charged with two counts of distribution within 1,000 feet of a school, a Class 1 drug felony.

Greatbatch was arrested during a Colorado State Patrol traffic stop Saturday after troopers discovered there was a warrant for his arrest. Greatbatch’s bond was set at $75,000.

According to Greatbatch’s arrest warrant, ACET used a confidential source to buy heroin from Greatbatch on Feb. 23 and Feb. 26. Before cooperating with ACET, the confidential source sold heroin to undercover cops during controlled buys in 2014 and 2015. The source reportedly had bought heroin from Greatbatch in the past.

The Feb. 23 controlled buy took place in a car at a parking lot at Seventh and Yampa streets, which is about 900 feet from a preschool on Oak Street. The confidential source bought 3.75 grams of heroin from Greatbatch for $360, according to the warrant.

The second buy took place at the same location. The confidential source bought 2.38 grams of heroin from Greatbatch for $350, the warrant stated.
