Steamboat majors team loses, 12-9, to North Boulder squad

— The Steamboat Springs Little League majors team bowed out of the state tournament Sunday after falling to North Boulder, 12-9.

Steamboat jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings thanks to hits from Bryce Sullivan, Drew Williamson, Jack McNamara and David Cropper.

But North Boulder scored 12 runs in the next three innings to take a 12-6 lead.

Steamboat scratched three runs out in the top of the sixth to make it 12-9 but couldn’t get anything going in its final at bat.

“It was a great tournament,” Steamboat coach Doug Starkey said. “It was great to go to the state tournament. I think the boys all had a great experience.”
