Steamboat hockey looks to rebound today at Howelsen

— After a lackluster performance against Aspen on Tuesday, the Steamboat Springs High School hockey team looks to get back on track at 3 p.m. today against Peak to Peak at Howelsen Ice Arena.

The Sailors (4-1) scrimmaged against Peak to Peak in the preseason, and coach Jeff Ruff said he hopes Steamboat finds its intensity again.

“We talked about coming in with the right mental attitude,” Ruff said. “It’s not being overconfident.”

Against Aspen, Steamboat had the talent advantage but was outhustled by a scrappy team.

“We want to play with confidence and our own game,” Ruff said. “Instead of coming in with an overconfident attitude and letting them hang around and hang around.”
