Steamboat hockey falls to 4th in Foothills Conference

— This wasn’t the end to the regular season the Steamboat Springs High School hockey team had in mind.

The squad lost its second lopsided game in as many days, falling to 13-5 on the season after an 8-3 loss Saturday at Standley Lake.

Steamboat led 2-0 after the first period but gave up three goals in the second and five in the third.

Colin Walt and Jake Bearss scored for Steamboat early. Lance Ostrom put one away in the third period, but it wasn’t enough. Standley Lake’s Cody Thompson notched a hat trick, scoring twice as his team blew the game open in the third period.

The Sailors finished the regular season fourth in the Foothills Conference.
