Steamboat girls sink at Delta

Joel Reichenberger

— The Steamboat Springs High School girls basketball team wasn’t competitive Saturday and fell big on the road at Delta, 80-33.

“It was very rough,” Steamboat coach Mack Spitellie said. “Delta was very physical and destroyed us on the boards. They absolutely destroyed us there.”

Spitellie said his team was out rebounded 30 to 9 in the first half alone.

The loss drops the team to 3-7. It was the team’s second rough night in a row, following another bad outing on the road against Palisade.

“It was just difficult,” Spitellie said. “We just did not do things right.”

The team next plays Saturday at home against Glenwood Springs.
