Steamboat girls lacrosse aims for winning season after Wednesday win

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — The Steamboat Springs High School girls lacrosse team blasted Eagle Valley on Wednesday, winning 18-8 to pull its season record to 7-7.

It will have a chance to secure a winning record Friday when it travels to play at Palmer High School in Colorado Springs.

On Wednesday, the team rode a big offensive game from its entire roster, getting goals and assists from eight players and at least three goals from four players. That’s the most diverse the team’s attack has been all season.

Lucy Shimek and Riley Schott each scored five. Wyleigh Myers and Isa DeMorat had three each. MaKenna Keyek and Kelly Strotbeck each had one. Shimek and DeMorat had two assists each, Sammy Kennedy, Schott and Alexa Paoli each had one.

Astraia Dahlen, a freshman in her first game in goal, logged seven saves.
