Steamboat Free Summer Concerts board of directors: Focusing energies on 2017
Dear friends, fans and supporters,
Summer 2016 was excellent on so many levels; however, with the cancellation of the fifth and final show of the season, it is with deep regret that we will not be able to promote a fifth show.
Clearly, the board and all those involved share in the community’s utter disappointment about the Bruce Hornsby cancellation — a first in the 24 years of the Steamboat Free Summer Concerts. We have been in numerous discussions with Hornsby’s camp, and it’s our hope that he will be able to return to Steamboat Springs and play the series in the future.
Since the cancellation, the Steamboat Free Summer Concerts board has held multiple emergency sessions and spent countless hours discussing artists and potential dates, albeit limited. There are multiple facets and moving parts in our concert production, and all must align to make another top show possible this summer, and as we all know, our window of opportunity was short.
Unfortunately, given where we are in the season, artists’ schedules, production conflicts and limited timing, it was in the best interest of the series and community that we focus our energies on 2017.
We appreciate everyone’s understanding and support this year and through the life of the series. You’ve allowed the Steamboat Free Summer Concerts to become a viable and important part of the community. It’s one of the many reasons why Steamboat is a great place to live.
We want to give a big shout out and thank you to all our sponsors, Local’s Lounge patrons and fans. Thank you.
