Steamboat City Council to hold special meeting tonight to discuss police investigation

— The Steamboat Springs City Council will hold a special meeting at 5 p.m. tonight in Citizens Hall to discuss the investigation into allegations against Police Chief Joel Rae and Deputy Chief Bob DelValle.

Members of the public can comment at the meeting.

Public comment will be accepted at the end of the meeting, according to the agenda.

The only item on the agenda is an executive, or closed session, to discuss personnel and pending legal matters.

Council members who called the meeting said they wanted to discuss the council’s involvement in the investigation.

On Friday, the city announced City Manager Deb Hinsvark was no longer overseeing the investigation, and oversight of the inquiry had been passed to Anne Small, the city’s director of general services.
