Steamboat chef on Jeopardy! winning streak

— Greg Seroka is converting many Steamboat Springs residents into Jeopardy! viewers this week.

The local chef is on a six-night winning streak on the popular game show.

On Thursday night’s episode, Seroka extended his winnings to $150,800 after easily defeating his two competitors, including a government relations liaison from Washington D.C.

“He is phenomenal,” Steamboat resident Ruth McClelland said of Seroka after watching him win on Wednesday night’s show. “He is so far and above any of his competitors.”

McClelland, who doesn’t personally know Seroka, is interested in watching the show simply because the contestant is from Steamboat.

Her friends from Denver urged her to watch.

Seroka is the executive chef at La Montana.

On Thursday’s episode, he touted a souvenir pen he is holding on to as a good luck charm.

His knowledge of the company that features a young girl walking in the rain with an umbrella — What is Morton Salt? — earned him $3,000 during the first Daily Double question.

He quickly built a lead over his competitors and never lost it.

Viewers on Friday will find out if Seroka extends his winning streak to seven nights.

Jeopardy! airs at 6 p.m. on FOX.
