Steamboat Briefs:Teen Battle of the Bands set for Friday
Steamboat Springs — The seventh annual Teen Battle of the Bands is planned for 9 p.m. Friday at The Steamboat Grand. The event will feature teen bands from Steamboat Springs, Hayden, South Routt and Craig. Each band must have a three-song set. Judges will evaluate originality, musicianship, sound, lyrics and appearance. Call the city of Steamboat Springs teen programs office at 879-4300.
County’s United Way Day of Caring is Wednesday
Routt County United Way’s Day of Caring is Wednesday. The day starts at 8 a.m. with volunteer activities. A free lunch will be provided by the Lions Club at noon at Olympian Hall. Call the United Way at 879-5605 for more information or to sign up.
Memorial to include run, hike and bike activities
A celebration of life for Jenna Gruben-Morrill is planned from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Olympian Hall and Howelsen Hill. Activities such as a run, hike, bike and yoga will take place in the morning. Boys & Girls Club seeking gently used gaming tables
The Boys & Girls Club of Steamboat Springs is seeking gently used gaming tables, such as pool and foosball tables, for its rec room. The group also would like a mini refrigerator for its teen room. Call Heather Martyn at 846-7710.
VNA offering breathing screenings for children
Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association is offering free breathing screenings and asthma education during the 2009-10 school year for school-age children in Routt, Jackson and Moffat counties. For more information, call Victoria Barron at 970-875-1883.
VNA also offers free breathing screenings for people who have breathing problems or asthma in Routt, Moffat and Jackson counties. Spirometry testing, pulmonary functions studies, prescription medications, asthma management and education are available. Call Barron for more information or to schedule a screening.
Cultural integration group seeks bilingual volunteers
Integrated Community is seeking bilingual volunteers to assist the organization with its resource and referral program Mondays and Wednesdays.
