Steamboat briefs: Youth Education Scholarship deadline slated for Friday

The Youth Educational Scholarship application deadline is Friday, April 15. Routt County graduating seniors or past recipients of the scholarship are encouraged to apply.
On June 1, the 28th annual Y.E.S. Golf Tournament will take place at the Rolling Stone Golf Course in Steamboat Springs. The money raised from that tournament will be awarded to various graduating seniors and past recipients.
The Young Professionals Network organizes the tournament with the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association and has awarded more than $203,000 in scholarships to date.

City picks companies for downtown upgrade projects
The city of Steamboat Springs has selected Blakely + Company and InterMountain Public Affairs to serve in a community relations capacity on the Downtown Improvement Plan. Working with city staff, Mary Brown will coordinate local outreach and communications with the contractor and subcontractors, downtown business owners and employees, stakeholder groups and the general public to provide timely information throughout the construction.
Blakely + Company brings traditional marketing communications expertise in advertising, graphic design, website development, public relations and social media management to the team, while InterMountain brings experience in public communications, public involvement, public and media relations, stakeholder relations and easement negotiations, according to a news release from the city.

Local organizations partner to present water forums
Several local groups have partnered to present three forums on Colorado's State Water Plan and the Yampa-White-Green Basin Water Plan.
John Stulp, special water policy advisor to Gov. John Hickenlooper and Interbasin Compact Committee director will lead the forums and discuss current water issues with attendees.
The forums are set for 5:30 to 7 p.m. April 25 in the city council chambers in Steamboat Springs, 137 10th St.; noon to 1:30 p.m. April 26 in the Weiss Conference Room at Colorado Northwestern Community College in Rangely; and from 5 to 6:30 p.m. April 26 in the upper level conference room at the Moffat County Courthouse in Craig.
Partnering organizations include Community Agriculture Alliance, Yampa-White-Green Rivers Basin Round Table, Colorado Northwestern Community College, Rio Blanco Community Networking Group, Rio Blanco Water Conservancy District, Upper Yampa Water Conservancy District, Moffat County and the city of Steamboat Springs.
