Yampa River Botanic Park gets $5,418 garden grant

Yampa River Botanic Park of Steamboat Springs received a $5,418 grant from Colorado Garden Show, according to a news release. The money will support the renovation and replanting of the park's Arbor Garden near the front entrance.

Colorado Garden Show, with its board of directors, awarded more than $600,000 in horticulture-related grant projects and scholarships across Colorado in May at the 2010 Grant and Scholarship Award Ceremony at Craig Hospital in Englewood. Yampa River Botanic Park was one of 44 organizations awarded grant money by the group this year.

"This grant is of great importance to the park," park President Emily Seaver said in the release, "because it will help us completely renovate one of the most visible areas of the park where poor soil has made it difficult to grow some of the plants we'd like to showcase."
