Steamboat briefs: Street closures planned for Winter Carnival events

— The city of Steamboat Springs Public Works Department will close Lincoln Avenue from Fifth to Seventh streets starting at 1 p.m. today for the Olympic Send-off & Community Celebration. After the send-off, the street will be closed from Fifth to 11th streets until 1 p.m. Saturday for Winter Carnival. Lincoln Avenue also will be closed from Fifth to 11th streets from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday for Winter Carnival street events.

Routt County Council on Aging director retires

The Routt County Council on Aging announces the retirement of Shelley Orrell as director of the council. Orrell has given 25 years of dedicated service and advocacy for seniors in our communities. Applications are being accepted for director.

Group seeks singers, particularly sopranos

Yampa Valley Singers have begun their Colorado Mountain College spring semester with rehearsals at 6 p.m. Tuesdays at the Steamboat Springs Middle School band room. The group welcomes other singers — especially soprano singers. The group’s performance of Schubert Mass in G is scheduled for April 14.
