Steamboat briefs: Steamboat hires new director of general services

Alan Lind has been hired as the city of Steamboat Springs’ new director of general services. He will be replacing Anne Small, who retired from her post with the city in October.

As a department director, Lind will oversee essential support services in the areas of facilities maintenance, purchasing and contracting, risk management, information systems and geographic information systems.

Lind has a background in the aerospace industry, with significant experience in strategic planning, performance metrics, long-range planning, forecasting, cost control, variance analysis, business-case development and budgeting. He has overseen diverse departments, including facilities, facility security, inventory control, office administration, contracts, procurement, quality and information technology.

“Mr. Lind comes to the city with significant technical expertise and experience,” City Manager Gary Suiter said. “I look forward to having a private sector perspective on the management team and welcome Mr. Lind and his family as full-time residents of Steamboat Springs.”

Lind has a home in Steamboat Springs and has been planning his move to the community for the past two years. His first day with the city will be Jan. 9.
