Steamboat briefs: State Department of Water Resources holds session

The Colorado Department of Water Resources will host a free educational session titled Water Administration in Routt County from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Steamboat Springs Community Center.

This public information meeting will include a 30-minute presentation followed by a one hour Q-and-A session about water rights and administration during this dry season. Call Water Commissioner Brian Romig at 970-846-0036 with questions.

US Highway 40 in Hayden resurfacing begins Thursday

On Thursday, the Colorado Department of Transportation will begin a highway resurfacing project on U.S. Highway 40 near Hayden between mile marker 108 and 114. The project slightly overlaps the existing Mount Harris Canyon rockfall mitigation project. Work is expected to last until August.



Crews will be working from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and there will be some work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays. Motorists should expect wait times of as much as 20 minutes during construction hours and are asked to plan for delays.

Swim Club at hot springs is open to children 6 to 13

Swim Club at Old Town Hot Springs is open to children ages 6 to 13. Swimmers work on stroke technique, endurance and new skills. Practice is from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays through Aug. 15. Call 970-879-1828, ext. 313, or email swimlessons@sshra.org for more information.
