Steamboat briefs: Registration now open for children’s dance classes

Registration is open for children’s Danceworks classes. The six-week winter session starts Monday and runs through Feb. 18. Some late registrations will be accepted after Monday. Classes for ages 2 to 10 are offered in creative dance, pre-ballet, creative ballet, kids hip hop and kids african. Winter African dance and drum session has started

The winter session of African dance with the Steamboat Springs African Dance & Drum Ensemble has begun. Mixed-level classes with live drummers are at 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Depot Art Center. Nicole Idzahl teaches Tuesday nights and Jennifer Lowe teaches Thursday nights. The classes go through May 5. Drop-ins are welcome, and there also are session-long registration and punch cards available. New students can try their first class for free.
