Yampa Street is closed between Sixth and Seventh streets for pipe replacement and Workman Park improvements.

The businesses on the block remain open, and the public parking lot and on-street spaces at Seventh and Yampa Street are available for public use.

“The road closure is necessary while crews work to replace deteriorating culverts under Yampa Street and to convert the Workman Property into a public park,” city project manager Danny Paul said in a news release.

Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes around this block of Yampa Street. Traffic signals available at Fifth and Seventh streets to facilitate left turns, and a pedestrian detour route has been installed to the north of the project limits along Yampa Street. There are also alternative pedestrian and bicycle detours available through Eagle Scout Park and the alleyway between Yampa Street and Lincoln Avenue.

The final Farmer’s Market, set for Saturday, will not be affected.

The work is expected to last through the month of October.

Sept. 17, 18 delays between Kremmling, Silverthorne

Crews are working to install a wildlife overpass structure on Colorado Highway 9 between Kremmling and Silverthorne Thursday, Sept. 17 and Friday, Sept. 18. This structure spans the length of the highway and is being installed using two construction cranes. Due to the nature of this installation, 45-minute stops both northbound and southbound are needed to ensure proper and safe placement of the structure. Complete road closures will be in place for 45 minutes at a time. Additionally, crews will be working to complete paving construction from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19. Motorists should use Colo. 131 or U.S. Highway 40 to avoid delays.

Routt County United Way kicks off season of giving

Routt County United Way invites all donors and board alumni to its Campaign Kickoff Celebration from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at Haymaker Golf Course for food and beverages as United Way kicks off its 2015 season of giving.

A brief presentation about how to make a real impact in Routt County through past and current investment in Routt County United Way will be given. Attendees will learn what’s new in the organization and what’s on horizon for campaign season.

Youth, adult open archery program begins Sept. 17

The city of Steamboat Springs Parks and Community Services Department will be offering an open gym archery program Sept. 17.

The program will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursdays at the Soda Creek Elementary and run through Nov. 19, except for Oct. 15. The cost to participate is $5 per participant each session.

The program is open to youth ages 7 to 17 years of age (with a parent or legal guardian present) from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and for adults 18 and older from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Children younger than the age of 7 will not be permitted in the gym during archery hours.

The range will be set at 12 yards until 7:30 p.m. and then adjusted to 15 yards after

7:30 p.m. for the adults. Genesis compound bows and arrows will be available for the public and are appropriate for adults and children to use; however, it is highly recommended that adults bring their own equipment.

Trained staff will be onsite to help facilitate the range activities and provide tips, but this is not an instructional class.
