Steamboat briefs: Olympics broadcast on giant screen at ski base

Steamboat Springs — One Steamboat Place is showing free screenings of the Winter Olympic Games on a giant screen daily through Sunday in the One Steamboat Place Plaza adjoining Gondola Square.
County historic register applications due March 2
Applications for designation to the Routt County Register of Historic Properties are due in the County Commissioners' office in the Historic Courthouse by March 2 and will be reviewed by the Historic Preservation Board at its March 24 meeting. Call Dee Bolton at 879-0108 for further information.
City taking registrations for Steamboat Pentathlon
The city of Steamboat Springs' recreation division is accepting registrations for the 19th annual Steamboat Pentathlon, scheduled for 10 a.m. March 20 on Howelsen Hill and area roads and trails.
The five-stage race includes Alpine skiing/riding, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, mountain biking and running, with standard and short courses available.
Enter a team or as an individual. Individuals and teams receive the discounted rate of $60 per adult and $45 per youth for all registrations received by March 4. After March 4, the registration fee increases to $75 per adult and $60 per youth. All entrants receive an event T-shirt, lunch and participation in the prize raffle drawing.
