Steamboat briefs: Kremmling police looking for witnesses to accident

The Kremmling Police Department is seeking potential witnesses to a car crash that occurred at about 6:10 p.m. Nov. 21 on Colorado Highway 9 just south of Kremmling. The crash involved a white sedan and a Ford pickup at the corner just north of the railroad bridge.

Anyone who either witnessed the accident or drove past the crash scene before the highway was closed is asked to call Chief Scott Spade or Sgt. Todd Willson at 970-724-3318.

Democratic Party taking applications for open seat

The Routt County Democratic Party Vacancy Committee is accepting applications for the District 3 seat on the Routt County Board of Commissioners. The position is open to all residents of District 3 who are 18 or older and have been a registered Democrat and resident of District 3 for at least one year. The District 3 vacancy was created by the resignation of Diane Mitsch Bush, who was elected state representative for House District 26.

Tap House Sports Grill to host 2nd annual Wing Fest

The Tap House Sports Grill is hosting its second annual Wing Fest buffalo wing-eating contest at 7 p.m. Thursday. For $15, participants can see how many wings they can eat in 12 minutes. There also is a separate contest for those willing to take on "atomic" and "blazing" spicy wings. Prizes will be awarded. For more information, call 970-879-2431. Fiesta Jalisco partners with nonprofits for event

Fiesta Jalisco restaurant in the Sundance at Fish Creek shopping center is hosting a "Fiesta for the Future of Our Youth" fundraiser Dec. 4 and 5, with 20 percent of the profits from lunch and dinner services on both days going to local nonprofit organizations Colorado Student Care, Grand Futures and Advocates Building Peaceful Communities. The nonprofits will hold an open house from noon to 7 p.m. Dec. 4 and 5 in conjunction with the fundraiser. Deadline for scholarship for seniors is Thursday

The deadline for Colorado high school seniors to apply for Daniels Scholarships is Thursday, according to a news release. The scholarships award students money toward a four-year college education at any nonprofit college or university in the United States as well as financial and personal support. Students also receive a laptop computer and a printer, according to the release.

To be eligible, students must be current high school seniors graduating during the 2012-13 academic year from a high school in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah or Wyoming. They must be a current resident of one of those states and at the time of application be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States. They also must demonstrate financial need.

Haven in Hayden offers respite care for older adults

The Haven Assisted Living Center in Hayden offers daytime and overnight respite care for older adults who need supervision. The Adult Activity and Care program is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays. The program includes lunch, activities and help with personal care needs. The cost is $75 per day or $50 for a half-day. Temporary overnight care is available for as many as 30 days for qualified individuals. Clients with memory care needs are welcome at a cost of $100 per day.
