Steamboat briefs: Hospice daffodils can be ordered online

Northwest Colorado Health's annual Hospice Daffodils fundraiser will be March 14. Daffodils can be ordered online at Delivery is available for orders of 10 bunches or more; deliveries will occur March 13 and 14. Daffodil orders also can be picked up at Northwest Colorado Health, 940 Central Park Drive, Suite 101. Daffodils are $5 for per bunch, $24 for five bunches and $46 for 10 bunches. Proceeds help ensure Northwest Colorado Health can continue caring for and supporting patients nearing end of life in the Yampa Valley. Call Kyleigh Lawler at 970-871-7609 for more information.

Area Advocate group seek volunteers

Advocates Building Peaceful Communities is recruiting volunteers to become victim advocates to provide on-call services for the 24-hour crisis line. Thirty hours of training is provided and will take place in early February based on participant schedules. 

Advocates is a nonprofit agency providing free and confidential services to victims of domestic and sexual violence in Routt County. Those who are interested may call Molly or Diane at 970-879-2034 for more information.

Library hosts 'Ballads, with Love' concert

Bud Werner Memorial Library presents "Ballads, with Love," a concert by local musical talents Tera Johnson and Neil Marchman. at 6:30 p.m. today in Library Hall.

Johnson, a graduate of Berklee College of Music, is known for her soul sounds, phrasing and scatting in the jazz and blues world, a genre she calls "funky soul." With reflective lyrics, her voice brings out a deep, moving spirit inspired by artists such as Ani Difranco, Tracy Chapman and Susan Tedeschi.

Marchman began playing music professionally with various rhythm and blues groups, top-40 bands and rock ensembles. He has played in numerous bands, written and recorded several original songs and taught music for more than 35 years, including as jazz ensemble director at Colorado Mountain College and four years as the music teacher at Strawberry Park Elementary School.
