Steamboat briefs: Holiday Festival to take place Dec. 20 at ski area

A Holiday Festival will be held from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 20, at the base of Steamboat Ski Area in Gondola Square. Santa will ride down the slopes on horseback, and then he will be in his workshop with some of his favorite reindeer. Activities include the stocking scramble, cookie decorating, story time and a special holiday concert by the Face Vocal Band, which has appeared on the Sing Off and America’s Got Talent.

The party continues after dark with a torch-light parade and fireworks.

LiftUp to hold meeting for board of directors Dec. 23

Holiday benefit concert, gala reception features duets



Tickets are on sale now for “Dazzling Duos,” a holiday concert with gala reception, including hors d’oeuvres, wine bar and art sale at 5 p.m. Dec. 30, at the Chief Theater. The benefit concert is the first of the popular Friends and Family Series and will feature well-known Steamboat cellist John Sant ‘Ambrogio and his internationally acclaimed daughter and cellist, Sara Sant ‘Ambrogio from New York City, along with violinists Paul Chou and 10-year old son, Michael, performing a program of Vivaldi, Bach, Handel, Jules, Camille and more.

All proceeds will benefit the Steamboat Springs Center for Visual Arts, a nonprofit community art center. Tickets may be purchased online at steamboatartcenter.com or in person at the gallery, 837 Lincoln Ave. from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. YVMC seeks volunteers to help in day surgery area

Yampa Valley Medical Center in Steamboat Springs is in need of caring people to join the day surgery program to support staff in the day surgery and minor procedures area with general organizational and maintenance duties and provide assistance to patients and families. Free class about Judaism to be held Sunday at library

A free class about Judaism is being offered at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, in the small meeting room at Bud Werner Memorial Library in Steamboat Springs. The class is part of an ongoing series offered to the Steamboat Springs community by Har Mishpacha, Steamboat’s only Jewish synagogue. The Hayden Congregational Church Food Bank distributes free food and personal items to those in need.
