Steamboat briefs: Hayden Turkey Trot, Fun Run set for 10 a.m. today
Steamboat Springs — The Hayden Turkey Trot 5K and Fun Run is set for 10 a.m. today at Dry Creek Park in Hayden.
The event will include a 5K run/walk, plus a one-mile fun run for kids. Prizes will be awarded for the top three finishers in the 5K and for kids who grab a feather from the running turkeys during the fun run.
The event will also include a raffle, and hot cider and healthy snacks will be available at the finish. Water will be available, but participants are asked to bring their own water bottles.
Cost for the event is a donation to the Hayden Valley Elementary Health & Wellness Team.
Yampa Valley Gives photo contest runs through Dec. 6
In anticipation of Colorado Gives Day, Tuesday, Dec. 8, Yampa Valley Gives is celebrating the many ways we all give to the Yampa Valley throughout the year.
Residents are invited to share photos and stories of how they give back for a chance to win $500 for a participating nonprofit this Colorado Gives Day.

Contest runs through Sunday, Dec. 6. The winning photo will be selected at the Gives Day Party at Colorado High Five on Tuesday, Dec. 8.
Entrants need not be present to win, and by entering the contest, participants agree to allow YVG to use photo entries for promotional purposes.
Christmas tree auction still in need of participants
Friends of the Christmas Tree Festival are looking for nonprofit service organizations and youth groups to participate in the annual Hayden Christmas Tree Auction on Sunday Dec. 6, at the Routt County Fairgrounds. United Way seeks holiday bell ringers, volunteers
Routt County United Way is seeking volunteers to be part of the timeless bell ringing tradition by greeting holiday shoppers and spreading Christmas cheer in front of Safeway and City Market.
The bell ringing continues through Thursday, Dec. 24. Civic groups are encouraged to volunteer. Organizations are needed to take an 11 to 6 p.m. shift.

Routt County LiftUp in short supply of personal items
LiftUp of Routt County is in need of personal items for its food bank. Toothpaste, toothbrushes, toilet paper, dish and laundry soap and razors are currently in short supply. Donations can be dropped off at the LiftUp offices, 2125 Curve Court.
