CMC student injured on snowmobile Thursday
Routt County Search and Rescue rescued a Colorado Mountain College student who was injured snowmobiling on Buffalo Pass on Thursday.
Search and Rescue spokesman Darrel Levingston said the accident occurred about a mile past Dry Lake Campground when the snowmobiler took a corner too fast and went off the side of the road.
Levingston said the injured snowmobiler went down about 20 feet off the side of the road. Levingston said rescuers transported the snowmobiler to the Dry Lake Campground parking lot, where an ambulance was waiting to transport the snowmobiler to Yampa Valley Medical Center.
Levingston and YVMC personnel said Thursday afternoon that they were not allowed to release any information about the patient, who was in the emergency room at the time. Dispatchers identified the injured snowmobiler as an 18-year-old male who had broken his leg.
