Craig man arrested on drug charges
A Craig man was arrested Monday on suspicion of distributing methamphetamine, after a month-long joint investigation by the Steamboat Springs Police Department and the All Crimes Enforcement Team.
Steven William Skiff, 24, was arrested at about 4:45 a.m. during a traffic stop at U.S. Highway 40 and Mount Werner Road in Steamboat Springs. Skiff was booked into Routt County Jail and charged with possession of a schedule II substance with intent to distribute, driving under the influence of drugs, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and fugitive of justice.
Skiff remained in custody in Routt County Jail as of Tuesday afternoon. No court appearances have been scheduled.
Community Foundation announces grant chances
The Yampa Valley Community Foundation has announced two local grant opportunities: The Yampa Valley Community Foundation’s Community Grants and the Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation Recreation Fund. The community grants are available for any nonprofit activity in Routt or Moffat counties that involves the environment, education, health and human services, recreation or art and culture. The Ski Corp. Recreation Fund serves recreation projects in Routt County.

In 2007, community grants awarded $124,000 to local non-profit organizations. The Ski Corp. fund will be funded in 2008 with a $75,000 contribution from Ski Corp. A full copy of the guidelines for each grant is available at http://www.yvcf.org. The deadline for submitting proposals to the Yampa Valley Community Foundation is March 17.
