Winter Sports Club selling Winter Carnival buttons

The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club has begun button sales in preparation for the 95th annual Winter Carnival, from Feb. 6 to 10. The carnival includes a variety of exciting and fun-filled events that embrace our western heritage and highlight our tradition of winter sports: ski jumping, Dual Slalom Bicycle Race, Snowboarding Jam Session, Tubing Party, Pancake Breakfast, Soda Pop Slalom, Telemark Revival, International Muzzle Loading Biathlon, Red Bull Sledstyle Demo, the Diamond Hitch Parade – which includes the Steamboat Springs High School band on skis – street events with horses and riders pulling kids on skis down Lincoln Avenue, and the Night Show with a fireworks display and the infamous Lighted Man.

The only cost to participate in or attend most of the events is $7 for an official Winter Carnival button. Buttons can be purchased at various locations through out town and at the SSWSC offices. All proceeds from button sales support the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club and its athletes. For more information call 879-0695, ext. 100.
