Steamboat briefs: Democratic, Republican caucuses slated for March 1

The Democratic and Re-publican Party caucuses are scheduled for Tuesday, March 1. Caucus attendees must be registered with their respective party in order to participate in the caucuses. The deadline to affiliate is Monday, Jan. 4.

Colorado does not have a presidential primary, and the caucuses are the first step in the process of selecting delegates to the Colorado State Conventions, who will vote for delegates to attend the national conventions.

Delegates at the national conventions will select the presidential candidates for the 2016 general election.

Colorado’s June 28 primary is for non-presidential offices (statewide, district and local).

Voters can affiliate either in person at the Routt County Clerk and Recorder’s office or online with the secretary of state at govotecolorado.com
