Crane festival coloring contest for kids underway
The 2015 Yampa Valley Crane Festival Coloring Contest is underway, and children ages 3 through 12 are encouraged to participate.
Pick up and drop off the sandhill crane scene to be colored and decorated at the children’s section of the Bud Werner Memorial Library, the Hayden Library, the entrance booth at Stagecoach State Park, Circle 7 Gallery, Off the Beaten Path Bookstore, Creekside Cafe & Grill, The Homesteader, Bonfiglio Drug in Oak Creek, Montgomery’s General Store in Yampa and the Clark Store in North Routt.
The drawing can also be downloaded from the Yampa Valley Crane Festival website coloradocranes.org and is available through summer camps. The deadline for entries to be dropped off at any of these locations is Aug. 15. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded Sept. 10 during the opening film event of the 2015 Yampa Valley Crane Festival, a free screening of “Winged Migration” at the Bud Werner Memorial Library.

USA Pro Challenge cycling race seeks more volunteers
USA Pro Challenge cycling races are coming to Steamboat Springs on Aug 17. and 18, with numerous ancillary events scheduled around the two race days. More than 500 volunteers are needed to run the event, including more than 250 course marshals along the race route. The Boys and Girls Club of Steamboat Springs is looking for volunteers to help with its summer reading program. Listen to kids read for 45 minutes from 10:20 to 11:20 a.m. with a flexible schedule.
