Routt County United Way grant cycle deadline Friday

Routt County United Way funds programs in early childhood education, youth success, income stability and health and crisis emergency services. 



The deadline for grant applications is 5 p.m. Friday. 

RCUW encourages community programs and organizations who have programs that fit the group’s impact areas to apply.

Local storyteller to discuss creatures of British Isles

Join local storyteller and historian Marianne Capra at 4 p.m. Friday at the Steamboat Coffee House downstairs at Seventh Street and Lincoln Avenue.

Capra will tell well-researched stories featuring creatures from the British Isles, specifically, fairies, leprechauns and merfolk. The stories originate in Ireland and Scotland and spotlight the creepy and cute creatures of that region.

Free screenings available to all on Diabetes Alert Day

Northwest Colorado Health is recognizing Diabetes Alert Day by offering free, drop-in cardiovascular and diabetes screenings from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 28 at Northwest Colorado Health, 940 Central Park Drive, Suite 101.

Diabetes Alert Day highlights the prevalence and prevention of Type 2 diabetes in adults. Nine out of 10 people most at risk for Type 2 diabetes do not know it, according to the American Diabetes Association.

Screenings, which include blood glucose test, cholesterol panel, blood pressure and body mass index, can help a person gauge his or her risk for diabetes and take measures to prevent it. Free screenings also are available by appointment. For more information, call 970-879-1632.

Steamboat Adventure Show set for 6 p.m. March 29

The Steamboat Adventure Show will be held Wednesday, March 29 at The Chief Theater in downtown Steamboat Springs. Doors open at 5:15 p.m., and the show begins at 6.

Join Steamboat Today and emcee Matt Tredway for an evening of adventure travel around the world.

Hear first-hand the harrowing travel stories, and see videos and slide shows from the greatest outdoor adventurers of 2016.

Space is limited, and the event is expected to sell out.
