Routt County Riders leading trail work day on Saturday
Routt County Riders will lead a trail work day on the Morning Gloria trail on Emerald Mountain from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, and volunteers are needed to assist with the trail-building project. Anyone who would like to help is asked to meet at 8:45 a.m. at Blackmer Drive for transportation to the work area.
Morning Gloria trail work sessions provide a chance for community members to participate in the building of a new trail and get an opportunity to see Routt County Riders’ new singletrack trail-building machine in action. Workers are invited to bring their bikes and ride down following the work session.
Tools will be provided; volunteers should wear sturdy shoes and bring work gloves, a backpack, sunscreen, rain gear, cap and water. Following the work session at about 1 p.m., volunteers can enjoy a snack from Honey Stinger, lunch donated by a local restaurant and beverages donated by New Belgium Brewing Co. Register for the work session at http://routtcounty
riders.org/volunteer/ to ensure enough refreshments.
When completed later this summer, the Morning Gloria trail will be a 4.2-mile trail that begins at the top of Quarry Mountain Trail and winds its way down Emerald Mountain, eventually connecting with the Lupine Trail and providing expansive views from the Flat Tops to Steamboat Ski Area.
Future Morning Gloria work days are scheduled for every other Saturday until the trail is complete. The next scheduled date is July 19. For more information about Routt County Riders, visit http://www.routtcounty
