Steamboat briefs: Coffee, newspaper event scheduled for Wednesday
Steamboat Pilot & Today will host its next Coffee and a Newspaper event from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, at the newspaper’s office, 1901 Curve Plaza. Kim Keith, executive director of the Steamboat Springs Art Council, and Wendy Kowynia, vice president of the SSAC board, will be the featured speakers. They will talk about the arts and culture scene in Steamboat Springs and the effort underway for Steamboat to be designated as a creative district.
Library hosts 12th holiday stocking drawing for teens
The 12th annual Sock It to Me Holiday Stocking drawing for teens is underway through December at Bud Werner Memorial Library.
The drawing offers teens in sixth grade and up the chance to draw from a stocking full of books, movies and more.
There are two stockings to choose from — fantasy and drama. Teens will receive a ticket for the drawing each time they visit the library and check something out.
The drawing will be Jan. 4.
Howelsen Hill ski season passes available to purchase
Howelsen Hill ski area 2015-16 season passes are now available for purchase online. To purchase a 2015-16 season pass visit steamboatsprings.net/ski and click on the “Purchase Membership” button at the top of the page, which will direct to the new online registration site where passes can be selected and purchased.
Those purchasing passes online will still need to visit the Howelsen Hill concession stand to take their pass photo and submit a 2015-16 liability form.

Steamboat Rotary Club grant application process open
The Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs is seeking applications for the first round of grants in its 2015-16 funding cycle. Applications and grant criteria can be found online at steamboatrotary.com or by emailing Jeremy Behling at email@example.com. Applications are due Tuesday, Dec. 1 and can be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Annual Hayden Christmas Tree Auction set for Dec. 6
The annual Hayden Christmas Tree Auction is set for 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6 at the Routt County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall.
The auction will feature decorated wreaths, trees and centerpieces — all created by local youth groups and service organizations, including the Girl Scouts, various school groups, 4-H Groups, Love Inc. and the Routt County Cattlewomen.
Help support these groups by coming to the auction and purchasing these handcrafted items.
All sale proceeds go to the youth and service organizations.
