Steamboat briefs: Coffee and a Newspaper will be held Wednesday
This month’s Coffee and a Newspaper will be held from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Wednesday at the newspaper office, 1901 Curve Plaza. Kate Nowak, executive director, and several board members of United Way of Routt County will be in attendance to talk about the organization and explain how it benefits the area. Members of the Steamboat Pilot & Today’s management team — including Publisher Suzanne Schlicht, Editor Lisa Schlichtman and Local Sales Manager Laura Tamucci — also will be on hand to answer questions. Free coffee and pastries will be served, and all community members are invited to attend.
Routt County Clerk’s Office to be open on Election Day
The Routt County Clerk’s Office will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday for election business only. Motor vehicle and recording will be closed. All ballots must be received in the clerk’s office by 7 p.m. on Election Day.
Crime Stoppers asking for information on incident
The Routt County Sheriff’s Office and Routt County Crime Stoppers are asking for information about a suspicious incident that occurred at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday on Routt County Road 44. A female was pulled over by a champagne-colored SUV, which displayed red and blue grill lights. A male subject informed the female driver her vehicle was stolen. It is believed the unknown white male was impersonating a police officer because he did not produce any identification and he did not have a police radio. The unknown male subject is described as being 5’8” and weighing between 150 and 170 pounds with short dark hair. It is estimated he was in his 20s or 30s. Anyone with information regarding this incident that leads to an arrest and conviction may qualify for a cash reward. To pick up a ballot stop by Routt County Courthouse
If you did not receive your ballot in the mail, need to register to vote, change your mailing address, replace lost or damaged ballot or vote in person, you can stop by the Routt County Courthouse Annex, 136 Sixth St., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Recyclable materials to be accepted at normal hours
Due to low recycling participation rates during Wednesday evening extended hours, Waste Management on Downhill Drive in Steamboat Springs will return to normal operating hours beginning Nov. 1. Recyclable materials will now be accepted from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Visit http://www.yvsc.org for more information.
