Steamboat briefs: City of Steamboat Springs to air water documentary

The city of Steamboat Springs Public Works Depart­ment is airing “Liquid Assets,” a 90-minute PBS documentary about water and wastewater infrastructure, at 10 a.m. Sundays and 5:30 p.m. Mondays through September on Channel 6. The documentary details the challenges and necessities of water infrastructure renovations occurring across the country. Steamboat Springs is preparing for massive water and wastewater improvements in coming months, potentially meaning substantial rate increases for residential and commercial users beginning Jan. 1. Open house for Creative Expressions is this week

Join Hospice of Northwest Colorado, a division of North­west Colorado Visiting Nurse Association, and the Steamboat Springs Arts Council to learn more about a new free program titled Creative Expressions: Exploring Life in the Midst of Change. An informative open house about the initiative will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Rollingstone Respite House, 480 Rollingstone Drive. Visiting Nurse Association offers adult immunizations

Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association is offering $14 adult immunizations for a limited time for MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), HPV, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pneumococcal (Pneumonia), Meningococcal (Meningitis), Tdap (Tetanus, Diptheria, Pertusis) and Hepatitis A and B (Hepatitis vaccines are for people with risk factors). Volunteers needed to help ship donations to Africa

A local West African has collected used goods from around Routt County to send to his village in Senegal. On Wednesday, volunteers are needed for two hours to move the goods into a large shipping container, Africa-bound. For the exact Steamboat Springs location and time, call 970-870-3069.

Bilingual volunteers are being sought for group

Integrated Community is looking for bilingual volunteers to facilitate an English/Spanish conversational group for children and parents at Strawberry Park Elementary School. The activity will run for eight weeks from October to November, starting at 3:30 p.m.
