Steamboat briefs: City 101 class available for community members

Employees from the city of Steamboat Springs along with members of the community will be selected to learn more about the city and its operations through field trips, forums and interactive activities.

City 101 will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. the first Wednesday of each month from January through July. Lunch will be provided. Interested individuals submit an application to the program, and members will be selected by the city’s management team.

Applications for the 2016 City 101 sessions are due Dec. 15 and can be found on the city’s website at steamboatsprings.net/city101. Contact Winnie DelliQuadri at 970-871-8257 or wdelliquadri@steamboatsprings.net for more information.



To have coverage Jan. 1, must be enrolled by Dec. 15

Individuals who need health insurance or need to renew their plans must do so by Jan. 31, and they need to be aware of the following important information.



■ There are new plans and prices every year. Financial help is available to lower monthly costs.

■ Free in-person assistance is available to help find the right plan.

Those already enrolled will need to renew their plan to retain coverage.

■ There are tax fines for not having health insurance.

Individuals must enroll or renew their plans by Dec. 15 for coverage beginning Jan. 1, by Jan. 15 for coverage beginning Feb. 1 and by Jan. 31 for coverage beginning March 1.

For assistance in enrolling in health insurance, contact a health coverage guide at the Northwest Colorado VNA at 970-871-7330 or Yampa Valley Medical Center at 970-879-1322.

Drop-in open enrollment assistance also is available from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Jan. 26 at Yampa Valley Medical Center, 1024 Central Park Drive.

Free CPR class offered to public 5:30 p.m. Wednesday

Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue will host a free Friends & Family CPR Class to the general public from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16 at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. The class will cover the basics of CPR but will not be a full certification class. Space is limited for the class and local residents should call 970-879-7170 to sign up.

Supplies available to local art educators at Depot
