The high school baseball regular season is coming to a close for the Steamboat Sailors — a team on the fringe of making the state playoffs.

At 11-9 this season, the Sailors have won three of their last four and are ranked No. 41 in the Colorado High School Activities Association Class 4A rankings as of Monday. In total, 32 teams make the single elimination playoff tournament.

With only three games left on the schedule, the Sailors will need to put up results strong enough to slide into the top-32. All three games will be played at the Emerald Mountain Fields, the first and only home games of the Sailors’ season.

Steamboat will host No. 12 ranked Summit on Friday for a doubleheader with game one beginning at 2 p.m. and game two to follow (tentatively scheduled for 4 p.m.). The team concludes the regular season against Meeker at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The community is invited to come watch all three games as Steamboat makes a push to make the playoffs for the first time in program history.
