Steamboat baseball team starts season with big win
The Steamboat baseball team also picked up a win Friday, knocking off Harrison on the road, 10-0 in five innings.
The Sailors got three runs and two RBIs on two hits and two walks from freshman Colter Gansmann. Senior Theodore Hansen and sophomore Tanner Ripley also each scored twice while Austin Aibarra and Quintin White each drove in two runs. The team was active on the base paths, racking up seven steals, and it got a strong performance on the mound from Jack Boyle, who didn’t give up any runs in the season’s first outing.
The baseball team is back in action Saturday at Mullen High School against KIPP Collegiate.
Most of the rest of the school’s spring sports will also open play Saturday.
The girls soccer team will play at 11 a.m. at home against Glenwood Springs. The boys lacrosse team will play at 4 p.m. at Aspen.
