STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — To celebrate the autumnal equinox and the harvest moon, the Colorado Mountain College Sky Club will host a Star Party from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22 at Yampa River State Park.

Paul McCudden, CMC astronomy professor and Sky Club faculty advisor, said the event will also be a celebration of the magnificent lineup of four planets in the sky at once: Venus, Jupiter, Saturn and Mars.

Attendees will have a chance to look at these planets with the club’s telescopes, and they’ll see other mesmerizing sights like stars, galaxies, nebulae, satellites and, hopefully, a meteor or two.

McCudden said the club will have a special solar telescope out to look at the sun, and sky tours will be given every five minutes during the free event which is open to the community.
