— The Stagecoach man accused of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old boy has been sentenced again, this time to two years in the Routt County Jail because he did not comply with probation.

Daveth A. Young, 40, pleaded guilty in June to unlawful sexual contact, a Class 1 misdemeanor, as part of a plea deal.

Young originally had been charged with sex assault on a child, a Class 4 felony; sex assault on a child with a pattern of abuse, a Class 3 felony; and sex assault on a child younger than 15, a Class 4 felony.

Young testified at his May trial and denied the allegations. The trial ended in a hung jury, and Judge Shelley Hill declared a mistrial.

Instead of going to trial again, Young accepted a plea offer. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years of sex offender probation. As part of probation, Young would have had to undergo any recommended treatment.

According to a news release from the Routt County District Attorney’s Office, Young was sentenced again at his request after refusing to comply with probation and sex-offender treatment.

“We are pleased that Mr. Young is being held accountable both for his crime and for his refusal to comply with treatment, and we know that the victim’s family is also happy with the result,” District Attorney Brett Barkey said in the release.
