Sports Briefs: Soroco XC qualifies girls’ team, one boy for state meet

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — The Soroco girls cross country team was crowned regional champs Friday, Oct. 19 in Delta.

The Rams grabbed two top-three finishes at Regionals. Chloe Veilleux took first place overall, and Betsy Veilleux followed close behind in third. Kayedence Bruner added another top performance, claiming 12th place. Hailey Minnick came in 20th with Kourtney Bruner immediately following in 21st. Kayla Rossi finished 31st, and Erika Sjoblom capped off the race in 50th place.

Alex Colby qualified for state on the boys’ side, racing for 14th overall with a personal best time of 17 minutes, 53 seconds. Truman Anarella came in 26th, and Brad Veilleux came in close behind in 27th.
