Wheel and deal at Bike Swap

The Routt County Riders Bicycle Club plans to hold its annual Bike Swap from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Steamboat Springs Community Center.

“Last year we upped our memberships by 100 and raised $1,000 for the club,” swap organizer Katie Lindquist said about the group’s main fundraiser and membership drive of the year.

Lindquist noted some of the top initiatives that the club’s funds will support, including Bicycle Friendly Community measures, multi-use trails, improved signage, the Colorado Department of Transportation’s “Colorado Bike to Work” week (starting June 25) and the Larry Johnson Memorial Fund for junior bike development.

“It’s just a great way to kick off the season for us,” RCR president Brad Cusenbary said, noting how entry fees to both the Rio 24 Hours of Steamboat and Tour de Steamboat will be prizes in the noon raffle.

Raffle tickets cost $5, which also is the cost for on-site registration to sell a bike in the outdoor “corral” area. Entrance to buy at the corral costs $5 for non-RCR members and is free to members. Membership costs $20. Indoor vending tables cost $15 for individuals and $50 for shops, and those who wish to rent one need to pre-register. Those interested in renting vending space or in volunteering should call 846-9206.

Routt County Riders will hold a May meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Crawford Room at Centennial Hall. Visit for details.
