Sponsorship Day nets $3K for Riders

Steamboat Pilot & Today

— Downhill mountain bikers helped raise more than $3,000 for Routt County Riders earlier this month when Steamboat Bike Park donated proceeds from its first day of operation to the local nonprofit club.

Steamboat Bike Park collected all the money from lift tickets — $15 on that day — and a portion of the money from bike rentals on June 9, the first day the lifts spun for the summer, then donated that to Routt County Riders. The total amount donated came to $3,165.

“Mother Nature cooperated this year by holding off the rain, and the annual start to bike season went off without a hitch,” said Jim Schneider, vice president of skier services for Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. in a news release. “We’re thankful to the community for coming out to ride the trails and support this worthy event.”
