Soundoff for Dec. 14, 2003

Downtown talk a waste

The residents of Routt County and Steamboat Springs have spoken — the justice center needs to be by the jail. It’s the safest place, and it’s what the residents want. Let’s not waste any more time or money talking about putting it downtown.

Law right for medicine

I agree with the Colorado law allowing marijuana use for medicinal purposes.

Board not listening

How predictable. The Steamboat Pilot & Today wants to build more ball fields at the Bear River parcel. Pro-business, pro-Triple Crown all the time. When will your Editorial Board learn to listen to its readers? When will you hear what we want? When will the ‘Our View’ really reflect our view?

Residents get the shaft

Don’t trust the city on the merger with the Steamboat Springs Rural Fire Protection District any more than you would trust consolidation with Mount Werner Water District. Somebody is going to get the shaft in this deal, and just like in the Mount Werner consolidation, it’s probably the residents of the city.

GRAMNET wasted time

I think what happened to Don Nord is awful. Surely, GRAMNET has more important people to chase and arrest. This was a waste of taxpayers’ time and money.

No ball fields

You should not put any ball fields over at the Bear River parcel.

Don’t spend money

No, I do not think we should pay any more for ball fields for Triple Crown. We have done enough for them over the years.

Stay in the east end

Do not put ball fields at the west end of town. Keep the traffic in the east end where the tourists and the hotels are.
