— The Soroco Rams volleyball team endured a rough weekend at Saturday’s Simla Invitational Volleyball Tournament, losing three straight matches.

Coach Jennie Jo Logan said there were moments the team enjoyed brief surges of success, but the squad was never able to retain the momentum.

“There were times we got super close but just couldn’t keep it together and pull it through,” Logan said in an email. “Our inexperience of varsity play as a whole crept in and got to us a bit.”

The Tigers fell to Hoehne 17-25, 24-26 and 16-25, to Wray, 23-25, 17-25 and 17-25 and finally to Ignacio 25-14, 26-24, 18-25, 21-25, 8-15.

Logan said the Rams did a great job executing plays they had practiced throughout the week, but ultimately, were not able to capitalize.

“The girls ran plays that we worked on this week in practice and did a good job of working together, but we just couldn’t get it all pulled together,” Logan said.

She added, however, that the team is buoyed by an indomitable drive to succeed.

“One thing that continues to impress me is their drive not to give up,” Logan said.
