Soroco sweeps at Vail Mountain

Joel Reichenberger

The Soroco High School volleyball team kept its strong start to the season rolling with a three-game victory against Vail Mountain.

The Rams won 25-19, 25-8, 25-23.

“We were a little off our game, but the girls persevered,” coach Jeannie Jo Logan said.

The team, 5-1 on the season, trailed by as many as eight points in the third game but managed to hold on without giving it up. Soroco now hasn’t lost a game since its first match of the season, going 13-0 against five opponents in the meantime.

“Our net play is really helping out,” Logan said. “We get good blocks up, and everyone is contributing at the net.”

She said the team’s ability to rally Tuesday night showed a maturity that will come in handy as the season advances.

“That makes you feel good,” she said. “It was questionable there for a bit, but they have the confidence to know they can come back. They know what they have to do.”

The team next plays at 6 p.m. Friday at home against North Park.
