STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — Three Soroco High School runners placed in the top 10 at a cross country meet in Aspen on Saturday, Oct. 6.

Chloe Veilleux led the girls with a first-place time of 22 minutes and 43 seconds. Betsy Veilleux came in sixth overall with a time of 23:55. Erika Sjoblom capped off the female finishers with a 32:30 to take 43rd place.

Alex Colby topped the boys’ times with a ninth place finish at 21:19, and Brad Veilleux followed close behind in 16th place with a time of 21:47. Truman Anarella finished 28th at 22:36, then Josh Taing and Austin Little finished in 54th and 59th respectively with times of 27:51 and 35:47.

The boys placed 7th overall out of nine teams, but were second out of the 2A teams competing. The girls did not race enough to score as a team.

“Fast times on a tough course (uneven terrain and lots of hills),” head coach Callie Bradley said. “These guys are old pros on hills, though — not a flat road in sight for us to run on.”
