Soroco girls basketball wins easy
Steamboat Springs — The Soroco High School girls basketball team took care of business Saturday and used a lopsided win as a welcome chance to refine offense and defense.
The Rams beat De Beque, 73-15, in Oak Creek to improve to 8-2 on the season.
DaKota Bruner led the squad with 25 points while Briana Peterson and Jessica Rossi each had 12.
“I was really pleased with the way we played discipline wise,” coach David Bruner said. “In a game like that, it can get out of hand. Our kids did a good job with the discipline and did what I wanted them to do.”
After getting up 48-9 by halftime, what Bruner wanted them to do was work through new offensive sets and new defensive alignments.
“It’s hard to simulate that stuff in practice, so I was pleased with how the girls worked on it in the second half,” he said. “I’m really happy with where we’re at right now.”
The squad next hits the road Monday for a 3:30 p.m. game at Gilpin County. That’s the first of four road games spread of two weeks, including trips to Lake County, North Park and Vail Christian.
