Soroco girls basketball racks up big win

— It wasn’t much of a game, but the Soroco High School girls basketball team is not complaining.

The Rams opened their season with a 66-4 win against Caprock Academy on Thursday at the Cowboy Shootout in Meeker.

“We weren’t even trying to do that,” Soroco coach David Bruner said. “It was good to get the first game under our belt. We have a lot to work on and the girls realize that, but we did a lot of things well. It was a good start.”

Soroco got 14 points from Jessica Rossi, 12 from Kali Constine, 11 from DaKota Bruner and 11 from Briana Peterson.

The squad plays again Friday in the tournament, this time against Rangely. A win would match up the Rams against the hosts, Meeker, the defending league champ and a team that beat Soroco four times a year ago.
